Sephiroth nodded. "We are still rebuilding this land after it was torn apart by Maleficent and her creatures called Heartless," he said as they walked towards the buildings. A somewhat grotesque castle towered over the village, half-castle and half some kind of factory. "Heartless are drawn to the darkness in people's hearts and desire to make them give in to it. People attacked by Heartless can become Heartless themselves."
Ella looked saddened and horrified at the sight of the misshapen castle. “Were people able to return to normal after being turned into a Heartless?” she asked.
“I’m glad everyone stopped Maleficent. Wish I could have helped,” Huey said. “We helped by staying out of the way like Uncle Donald told us,” Dewey replied.
Ella was glad some people were saved from a terrible fate. But felt bad for others who weren’t able to be rescued.
“Yeah. It was admittedly terrifying,” Huey said softly. Being considered the braver of the three brothers, this was difficult for him to express. “It definitely was. But it’s over now,” Dewey said.
“If my amnesia is magically induced, is Merlin strong enough to return my memories? Or at least start the process?” she asked.
It was complicated, but if someone's respective Heartless and Nobody were both defeated, they should reunite and bring the person back to normal. However, it was rarely so easy for that to happen.
"It all depends on what kind of magic might have caused it," Sephiroth replied. "We're approaching his house now."
A man in his twenties was standing outside the house, shaggy brown hair hanging in his eyes. "Hey. What's up?" he asked, seeing the procession approaching.
"Hello," Sephiroth greeted. "We're here to see Merlin. Is he in?"
"Yeah. Just go on in," the younger man replied, jerking a thumb over his shoulder.
Upon entering Merlin’s home, Ella suddenly felt a little nervous. ‘What if he can’t help me, what will happen then? Will my memories eventually return? Or are they lost forever?’ she thought, fidgeting with her locket.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure Merlin can help you,” Huey said. “If not, he probably knows something that will help,” Dewey added.
Ella smiled, feeling a little better. “Thanks. Let’s hope he can help,” she said.
An elderly man with a long white beard emerged from a room. "Well, well, what's all this?" he curiously asked.
"This is Ella," Sephiroth explained. "She appeared near the forest and remembers very little about herself. We wondered if her amnesia might be magically induced."
"Hmm. It could be!" Merlin said. "Ella, my dear, do you remember anything from before you came to be here?"
“Nice to meet you sir,” Ella said politely. She showed him the locket and the photo of the mysterious guy inside. “This is the only clue I have about my memories. Other than that, I don’t remember anything.”
"I see, I see." Merlin looked at the locket. "Well, I don't remember seeing him around here, or in any of the worlds I've visited. Let's see what we can do."
He brought out his wand and chanted some magic words as he touched it to Ella's forehead and then to the locket.
Ella’s eyes glowed slightly as Merlin’s magic began to unlock her memories. The glow faded a few moments later. “The photo of the guy is Ryou Bakura and he’s my boyfriend. And I also remember that I’m a vegetarian,” she said, getting tears in her eyes.
“That’s awesome,” Huey said excitedly. “Do you remember anything else?” Dewey asked.
"It's certainly something, at least!" Merlin said. But he sobered as he added, "The magic binding your memories is very strong. It took a great deal of magical energy just to release that much."
"It would take a powerful sorcerer to cast a spell like that," Sephiroth remarked. "Someone on Merlin's level. Or my own."
“Do you have any idea as to who could have done this?” Ella asked.
“Uncle Donald, I don’t think Sephiroth did this to Ella,” Huey said. “I have to agree,” Dewey said. “Think it could have been Madam Mim? Or maybe Maleficent?”
Re: Ella in Radiant Garden Land
“I’m pretty sure he’s here somewhere, right Uncle Donald?” Huey asked. “Why do you ask?” Dewey questioned Ella.
“Sephiroth suggested that my Amnesia could be magic induced,” Ella replied.
Re: Ella in Radiant Garden Land
"I am not in the habit of causing amnesia on innocent young women," Sephiroth replied flatly.
Re: Ella in Radiant Garden Land
“Could you tell me more about this place?” Ella asked.
Re: Ella in Radiant Garden Land
"Was I, or was I testing his strength?" Sephiroth replied.
He looked to Ella. "What do you want to know?"
Re: Ella in Radiant Garden Land
“It’s our friend, Sora’s, weapon,” Dewey replied. “It’s basically a magical sword shaped like a key,” Huey added.
“Everything you can tell me,” Ella replied. “And a tour of the area would be great.”

“At least we helped fight the Heartless,” Louie said.

"Maybe it even was you," Donald retorted.
"It was not," Sephiroth said.
